Enrol now!

If you've never played the guitar before, this is the ideal course for you. Enthusiasm is all that is required in advance! Learn the guitar in a relaxed, laid back, environment, with time on each day of the course also set aside for practicing, relaxing on the beach, and socialising.

Blues Styles

Enrol now!

Electric Blues:

Focusing on the British Blues invasion of the 1960's, along with the immediate influences on the players of that era, this course will cover the most important playing techniques required, enabling you to build up a blistering blues playing vocabulary.

Acoustic Blues:

This course will look at the playing of a range of acoustic bluesmen - studying the work of artists such as Robert Johnson, Lightnin' Hopkins, Big Bill Broonzy, Big Joe Williams, as well as considering the acoustic artists they have influenced over the past fifty years or so.

Jazz Improv

Jazz is often a style that players get into after they've paid their dues to blues and rock and are looking to increase their ability to "play anything" on the guitar. However, playing jazz guitar convincingly does not necessarily mean you have to understand a whole load of theory - this course will show you that by using your ears, learning how to apply some theoretical concepts, plus regular practice, you can develop your own jazz guitar sound and feel.

Individual Guitar Getaways

Individual Guitar Getaways are an ideal option if you want to:

  • Study longer or shorter hours for each day of your holiday
  • Study a more specialised style of guitar
  • Mix guitar studies with other activities (such as sight-seeing, fishing or surfing)
  • Control your budget!

Applied Guitar

Suitable for a wide range of guitarists. Whether you are an "improver" who can play a few basic "open" chords, and are keen to progress your playing, or a long time player who is out of practice or hasn't learnt formally in the past. The Applied Guitar weekend will provide a solid grounding in how to push forward your guitar playing.

Not everyone on the course will be at the same level - some will have taken more lessons, know more theory, and some will have more performance experience. The course is not designed for robots, or to produce them - students benefit by learning from both the less experienced, who often know one or two things that other players have missed, and from the more technical or theoretical players on the course.

You will learn fretboard, chord and scale theory, all applied using great tunes and musical examples, some of which you will have a chance to perform during the course.

Folk and Fingerstyle

fundamental fingerstyle techniques will be studied, from basic claw and cross-picking, to classical and flamenco techniques. The work of some of the great fingerstyle players will be covered - let us know which artists you are influenced by and want to study further and we will prepare course material based around these players.

Awaydays

Usually run over a half day or during the evening, these often exclusive events with incredible players are designed to provide insight and inspiration to aspiring guitarists.
